Free Catalog Readiness Audit

Free Shopify Catalog Readiness Audit — human-run, 24 hours.

What we look at: Catalog eligibility, top 10 PDPs against Shopify's AI-readable fields, theme schema gaps, robots.txt.liquid, Knowledge Base app, policies, and a live AI shopping prompt test across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. What you get: a 6–10 page PDF in your inbox inside 24 hours, plus a single quick-win recommendation that does not require buying the install.

What we look at, in order.

Eight checks. None of them require buying the install. Half of them you could do yourself on a Saturday.

  1. Catalog eligibility

We open Shopify's admin and check every product against the published Catalog requirements — plan tier (Starter+), US / Canada shippability, no Unlisted status, no password protection, price above $0, and an identifiable product URL. 2

  2. Top 10 PDPs vs Shopify's AI-readable fields

For your top 10 products by revenue (or by what you tell us), we score Title, Description, Type, Vendor, Tags, Collections, Barcode/GTIN, Variants (incl. Option name), External product URL — the exact field list Shopify documents as material for AI visibility. 3

  3. Theme schema gaps

We view-source on a sampled set of PDPs and collection pages, parse the JSON-LD your theme emits, and flag missing types (Brand, AggregateRating, Review, Organization, FAQ) plus any duplicate-emit conflicts from schema apps. 1

  4. robots.txt.liquid status

We pull the current robots.txt.liquid template and verify it preserves Shopify's Liquid template (so default rules update automatically), and that GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended are not blocked. 4

  5. Knowledge Base app presence

We check whether the free Shopify Knowledge Base app is installed, and (if it is) sample the auto-generated FAQs pulled from your Language, Customer account, Shipping & delivery, and Return rule settings. 5

  6. Policy completeness

We read your returns, shipping, contact, privacy, and terms policies the way an AI agent would. Where they leave the agent guessing, we flag it. Shopify itself recommends keeping policies complete and current for AI accuracy. 3

  7. AI shopping prompt test (3 prompts)

We run three live prompts for your category across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. We record whether your store appears, whether a competitor appears, and the most likely reason. 6

  8. One quick-win recommendation

The single change you could make this week that would move the needle most. Sometimes it's a schema gap; sometimes it's two PDP rewrites; sometimes it's installing the Knowledge Base app. Always specific, never "do an SEO audit".

What lands in your inbox.

A 6–10 page PDF. One section per check: status flag, short finding, and the Shopify source we measured it against.

I write the PDF myself. Every finding links to a specific Shopify Help Center or dev-docs URL with the date I checked it.

Why we run it manually.

Most “free Shopify SEO audits” pipe your store URL into an LLM and return generic advice you can spot at fifty paces. The findings are vague. The recommendations are obvious. The follow-up email tries to sell you a $500 starter package.

We don't do that. Billy Reiner opens your store in a Shopify staff browser, view-sources a sampled set of PDPs, runs the prompts live in ChatGPT and Perplexity, and writes the PDF himself. The audit takes about an hour to produce. We do four to seven per business day — that's the bottleneck on the 24-hour SLA.

If you've ever read an auto-generated audit and felt the recommendations were too generic to act on, that's because they were. A person has to look at your specific catalog. That's what this is.

If you'd rather not DIY

After the audit, the install is $499.

The audit is the audit. We don't condition it on a follow-up call, a deposit, or a sales email. But if after reading it you'd rather we just fix the gaps ourselves, the Catalog Readiness Setup covers all 12 deliverables in 7 business days for $499 once, backed by a 14-day Walk-Away Guarantee. Same Billy who ran the audit runs the install.

About a third of audit requests end with the merchant fixing the quick-win themselves and never buying. That's fine. The other two thirds end with the install. Either way, you start with the audit.
